During the bombing of Iraq the photograph on the left ran in many international news publications and websites. The photo on the right ran in the New York Daily News on March 24, 2003, with a caption that read: "Iraqi man tends to girl wounded after air strikes pummeled southern city of Basra on Saturday."
The 'too gory for consumption' argument does not stand
If this is the United States' foreign policy...

If the entire world is seeing the effect of this foreign policy, and judging accordingly...

If the United States citizens are going to support this policy...

Shouldn't they also SEE the reality and effect of the policies they support?

Apparently not, if you're former First Lady Barbara Bush:
"...why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it's gonna happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's, it's not relevant. So, why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

- Barbara Bush on ABC/Good Morning America, March 18, 2003
